Daniel Henkin

Daniel Henkin is a leading voice in contemporary Jewish vocal music. For over 35 years, he has directed choirs for children, teens, and adults, produced more than 20 choral albums, and helped pioneer the Jewish a cappella movement with arrangements performed across North America and Israel. Daniel is the founding director of Tizmoret, Queens College’s Jewish a cappella ensemble, and is the recipient of the 2016 Covenant Award for excellence in Jewish education.

Alongside his work with established choirs, Daniel creates and trains one-time “Instant Choir” ensembles for Jewish community centers, schools, and family celebrations such as weddings, retreats, and Bnai mitzvah.  He is also a seasoned educator, teaching music theory, music history, and Jewish liturgical music.

Daniel’s arrangements are creative and accessible, and have been sung by amateur and professional choirs. Daniel offers custom arrangements tailored to your ensemble’s strengths and needs, on top of the dozens of arrangements available for purchase
